This kids party idea involves getting out on the water in our kayaks and canoes. Kayaks are single person cockpit style and canoes are Canadian/Open style where you can get more than one person inside – and you can choose either one for your group activity
The location is absolutely perfect for this activity. It’s set on one of the prettiest and safest reservoirs in Derbyshire and the Peak District, and there are some great facilities on site too, including a café and a restaurant. And there are lots of BBQ’s available dotted around the reservoir too, so if you want to bring a picnic or order some party food you can make a day of it. There are always lots of water sports going on, so there is plenty of entertainment to keep the children occupied while having some food
OK first it’s into the changing rooms to get into the wetsuits, safety helmets and buoyancy aids. Following a quick and fun warm up exercise to get the muscles going, everyone will go out as a group with a dedicated personal Instructor in their own kayak or canoe
The children learn basic paddling skills and boat movement techniques, all while having buckets of fun playing different games
And yes, if you want to we’ll teach you how to learn the capsize drill. But don’t worry it’s not essential!
Kids should be water confident, although they don’t actually need to be able to swim as buoyancy aids are provided
Come along for some messing about on the water. This is one of those children’s party ideas that the kids will be raving about in the playground on Monday! And what a plus that everyone taking part will learn some new skills. Much healthier and exciting than a trip to a burger joint, right?
